A good friend of mine, who calls himself Breklor, one day told me about the Elegant Lolita style of the japanese fashion. Curious, I looked it up and nearly fell off my chair... here were grown women dressing up as dolls; both babydoll and victorian, punk, industrial, gothic. All favourites of mine. Imagine my delight when I discovered a group of like minded plus sized ladies on Live Journal! Inspired by their pictures and journal entries, I've begun to play around a bit with this style of costume/clothing.

An intermediate level sewer, I am in process of learning more about making the patterns larger but keeping the clothing fitting properly, despite my lack of training. I've made some pseudo medieval items in plus sizes before, and had great luck in fiddling around. An aborted attempt to establish an Ebay medieval clothing business with a dear friend of mine taught me that there's not a lot of plus sized pretties out there, and that with some patience and a lot of cheap left over fabric, I can make cute things for myself and my other plus sized (and not plus sized) friends. This site will probably not be updated a whole lot, since I'm in school full time and also VERY broke most of the time. I will try and post pictures and more info on projects as I get the time.

I wish I could take credit for the cute name, but to be honest, I got the idea from one of my clever Live Journal buddies on the Elegant Lolita Plus list! I loved it enough to use it, and I hope she doesn't mind!

I've forgotten where I found this picture, but it's one of the first ones I saw that inspired me to look up more about this intriguing style of costuming!

This is me showing my plus sized friendly Elegant Lolita styles and sewing projects.
These are inspired from the gothic fashion scene in japan; classic lolita clothing at baby, the stars shine bright, victorian maiden, and metamorphose temps de fille. Alas, these clothes are not made for the plus sized, and so, I am making them for myself in a size that fits ME!
